Study Room Terms

1. What Study Rooms are

Study Rooms are shared, live study sessions. Depending on the room, they can include text chat, a list of who else is present, shared study timers, live quizzes, and live video and audio with the other people in the room. These terms apply in addition to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

2. Who can join

You need a Koydo account to join a Study Room. Extra protections apply to learners under 13, and live video and audio are not available to our youngest age groups at all. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian needs to accept these terms before you join a session.

3. How to behave

When you use a Study Room, you agree to:

• Treat everyone with respect. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination.
• Keep it appropriate. No obscene, violent, or sexual content.
• Never ask other people for personal details — addresses, phone numbers, payment information — and especially never ask a minor.
• Be yourself. Do not impersonate anyone else.
• Use rooms for studying and academic discussion.
• Follow the law.

4. Camera, microphone, and chat

Your camera and microphone stay off until you turn them on. Where a room offers live video and audio, joining it is a separate, explicit choice you make in the room — nothing switches on automatically, and you can turn either off at any time without leaving the room.

We do not record you. Koydo does not record video or audio from Study Room sessions. Chat messages are stored so the room keeps its conversation history.

You may not record anyone else.Recording, screen-capturing, or otherwise reproducing another participant's video, audio, or likeness without their clear permission is not allowed and can cost you your account.

Live video and audio run on Daily.co. Where a room offers them, those streams are carried by Daily.co, and their terms and privacy policy apply to that part of the session as well.

5. Your content

What you share in a room stays yours. You give Koydo permission to store, display, and transmit it only as far as running the Study Room feature requires. You are responsible for what you share.

6. Moderation and safety

A room host can mute or remove anyone who breaks these terms. Koydo can moderate, suspend, or withdraw access to Study Rooms without notice.

7. Privacy and data

Chat messages are stored on Koydo servers and are visible to the people in the room. Live video and audio are transmitted in real time and are not stored. We keep basic session details — when you joined and left, and how long you stayed — for safety and to understand how the feature is used.

8. For parents and guardians

If you are accepting on behalf of a child, you understand that:

• Your child will be able to communicate with other users through text chat.
• Where live video and audio are offered and their age group allows it, your child can see and hear other users in real time, and be seen and heard.
• Koydo moderates and applies safety controls, but no technology makes peer-to-peer communication risk-free.
• You take responsibility for supervising how your child uses Study Rooms.
• You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us, which ends your child's access to Study Rooms.

9. Accepting the risk

Study Rooms put you in contact with other people whose identity we cannot fully verify. To the fullest extent the law allows: Koydo is not responsible for what other participants say, do, or share; you take on the risks that come with joining a live session; and Koydo's liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or 50 USD.
